    Kuwait

    $0.78

    Caracas , Venezuela

    $0.12

Arkansas... they dont know what to do, just like the rest of us.

Notice which countries have lower gas prices... when is America and Canada going to wake up? We have plenty of oil, but environmentalists are studying the impact which is OK by me.  I am  hoping that they will come up with a better alternative  but in the meantime we are at the mercy of  Arab countries and Venezuela .

Phew! My blog diasappeared for a day!

I was trying to change the sidebars and give my blog a more muted look and all of a sudden the whole thing disappeared. I was in mourning the whole day making excuses for myself saying that it was just as well. I would now have more time cleaning the house than just spending hours reading blogs or working on mine. A gave it a last try searching my hard drive and finally I found it. I guess you could say it was like finding your lost pet. So I'm back on and the house is messy....

Are you born between 1930 and 1970? This is for you:

To Those of Us Born 1930 - 1970

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930's, 40's, 50's, 60's and 70's!!
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn't get tested for diabetes.
Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes,we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads..

As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, nobooster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes.

Riding in the back of a pick- up truck on a warm day was always a special treat.
We drank water from the garden hose and not from a bottle.
We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and no one actually died from this.
We ate cupcakes, white bread, real butter and bacon. We drank Kool-Aid made with real white sugar. And, we weren't overweight.. WHY?
Because we were always outside playing....that's why!
We would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on..
No one was able to reach us all day. And, we were OKAY.
We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride them downthe hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solvethe problem.

We did not have Play stations, Nintendo's and X-boxes. There were no video games, no 150 channels on cable, no video movies or DVD's,no surround-sound or CD's, no cell phones, no personal computers, no Internet and no chat rooms.
WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!

We fell out of trees, got cut, broke bones and teeth and there were no lawsuits from these accidents.

We would get spankings with wooden spoons, switches, ping pong paddles, or just a bare hand and no one would call child services to report abuse.
We ate worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.
We were given BB guns for our 10th birthdays, made up games with sticks and tennis balls and, although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out very many eyes.
We rode bikes or walked to a friend's house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just walked in and talked to them.
Little League had tryouts and not everyone made the team. Those who didn't had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!! The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law! These generations have produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever.
The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas. We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned how to deal with it all.
If YOU are one of them, CONGRATULATIONS!

Jay Leno:
"With hurricanes, tornadoes, fires out of control, mud slides, flooding, severe thunderstorms tearing up the country from one end to another, and with the threat of bird flu, swine flu and terrorist attacks, are we sure this is a good time to take God out of the classroom?"

When the world comes crashing down!

I remember reading about a cultural phenomena unique to Haïti:  the "Reste Avec" a French word that means "living with". Due to financial constraints, parents are forced to give away or to sell for 100$ or less their children (boys and girls) to other families.  They become slaves and therefore loose their former identity. They are known as children "living with" the so and so's, hence the "Reste Avec"!

Women, unfortunately, often have many children and few fathers to support them. Apparently the "Reste Avec" slavery  is an accepted common practice that has been in existence for a very long time.  Please refer to the video for a detailed explanation.

We have all been watching from our own respective countries reports of the devastation of the earthquake. Its difficult to watch.  On the other hand, amid the horror of it all, its refreshing to see how the different nations are converging to help with whatever money, medical services and humanitarian supplies they have, instead of viewing the daily  images coming out of Afghanistan and its devastation caused uniquely by men. Its uplifting to see the humanitarian concern and effort deployed to Haïti by well meaning citizens from around the world.

I'M FOR COCO !!!!

I support COCO !!!

There is a war raging at NBC.  They want Leno to take back The Tonight Show and move Conan O'Brien to a new show at midnight.  Conan as you know moved his family and his staff to LA (I'm sure NBC took care of his expenses) to start a new career.  Earlier this week NBC changed its mind and want to push out Conan to a very late show.  Conan said he would rather quit and that's what he did. Conan is a Harvard educated man and was a writer for the Simpsons and Saturday Night Live. This week he has had some fun at the expense of NBC.  Here is one of his jokes in his opening monologue:

Hi, I'm Conan O'Brien, NBC's "Employee of the Month" !  NBC is threatening Conan by denying him any work for the next 3 years if he does not stop his negative remarks of NBC.  Bye Coco, we will miss you!  Thousands of supporters are organizing rallies for him.  Just check Facebook under I'm with COCO.

WINTER POEM:

Cat cold Pictures, Images and Photos

I found this beautiful winter poem and thought it might be a comfort to you. It was to me, and it's very well written.
I felt it really captured my own feelings about winter.
