Its raining again. Not men, nor golden opportunities just warm drops of water! Somebody more poetic wrote:
The first drops of rain always bring a smile on our faces. The smell of wet soil, the damp grass, and the slosh of puddles under our feet make us want to dance with wanton joy. Rain makes a heart go romantic. Ever danced in the rain? The feeling is inexplicably beautiful. Hold your sweetheart's hand and walk in the rain while the clouds play cupid.
Ever watch children playing in the rain? As an elementary school teacher I often get a chance to see how young children, especially boys, just love to jump in puddles and how little girls love to show off their latest Wall Mart umbrellas and rubber boots!
Since we are on the subject of rain, I thought I could share some of my favorite vintage pictures. Enjoy!
I also love to hear the rain at night. It puts me to sleep. How does the rain affect your sleep? Let's suppose you were in your bedroom and you are going to sleep and it's pouring rain. Does the sound help you fall asleep or does it become an annoying sound that keeps you awake. For me, I find it better and easier to fall asleep when it's raining (minus the lightening and the thunder), it can even make me sleep soundly and peacefully. How about you, how does the rain affect your sleep, does it make it easier or harder to sleep?

I sleep better when it rains, too as long as there isn't a lot of thunder that is. Thanks for coming by.
ReplyDeleteThis is timely. Yesterday, we had a storm move through. It was a good one, strong winds. The tornado sirens went off! The older Grndkids wanted to go outside. When the hard part of the storm was through and the lightening stopped, all that was left was the rain. The kids went outside and jumped on the trampoline. There was a large puddle in the middle of it. Then, fully clothed but soaking wet, they jumped in the small pool. They loved playing outside in the rain. They have, in the past, taken the shampoo out and washed their hair in the rain.
ReplyDeleteI love the rain. I accept any weather. It is truly one of the wonbders of nature as we can't control it in any way. Rain, sun, clouds, heat, cold, snow, whatever.
Yes, I do find it soothing to nap or turn in when I can hear the rain on the roof or hear the drippings from the gutters.
I like thunder too. And lightning. The thunder noise comes from the Thunderbeings. They are loud and may sound scary, but when you get to know them, they appear to send approval to our efforts and bring the rain, the healing lifeblood of the Sacred Earth Mother.
Peace.
Cute post but I'll have to look up "rain" in the dictionary since I live in Arizona and we haven't had any measurable rain in a long time!
ReplyDeletethis is so very impressive,
ReplyDeletelove the brilliant images!
Cheers!
I like the rain and sleep fine with or without it but I especially like taking photos when it is raining, I love the reflections on the pavements and all the colorful umbrellas people take out
ReplyDeleteI can sleep pretty well when it rains. Unless there's a lot of thunder and lightening then I worry about a tornado and then not so much, ha. Great Z post.

As long as it is a steady rain. Not a downpour...and yeah no thunder or lightening. Just nice quiet rain. Very relaxing. It rained today...and thundered and lightening. Not relaxing.

ReplyDeleteLove those vintage rain pictures and your post on rain! Yes, I always feel nice and cozy at home when it's raining outside. I guess knowing I have a home to shelter me makes me enjoy being inside when it rains. Thanks for the lovely reminder!
ReplyDeleteLove your vintage pictures! I can sleep with any "white noise", so rain is good to sleep to for me, unless accompanied by thunder :-)

Loved all those vintage pictures you chose for this. Rain always helps me sleep better. I love the sounds and the smells.
ReplyDeleteIt's been raining here so much this summer that I could stand to not see it for a while...lol. I do enjoy those smells associated with the rain though, or when you can smell rain in the air before the storm hits. Thanks for dropping by my blog! I'm following you now too. :)

The rain is a automatic lullaby for me...ahh dreamland! Love your vintage imagery :)
ReplyDeleteWe bought sleep sheep for my son and use the rain setting, the first few times we used it and he was still in our bedroom it was the BEST sleep I had had in WEEKS. Too bad my husband hated the rain sound because I'd totally buy a sound machine for myself otherwise!
ReplyDeleteHere from FFF, come visit me if you get a sec! Happy Friday!
Your blog is so pretty and I loved the pictures in this post. Rain definitly helps me sleep.

Happy Pink Saturday! We could use some cooling rain here in the northeast!
ReplyDeleteI want to welcome you to pink Saturday. This is such a great bunch of gals, and I'm sure you'll love being a part of the pink fun.
ReplyDeleteI really like your vintage images...especially the two girls in the basket.
I LOVE rain. Sadly, right now, I am living in a desert climate, so we don't get much rain, but, still, I LOVE rain. I can sleep very easily when it's raining, except if there's very loud thunder.
Have a lovely day,
Patti (Fill My Cup with Beauty)
Pitter-pat! I love rain when I can stay indoors and feel all snug and cozy.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me feel sleepy too!
Happy Pink Saturday.
Yvonne
I do not sleep very well anytime. If I had to depend on the rain to help, I would be in more trouble. We do not get that much here. Guess I could turn water hose on the roof for the sound. I doubt it would help me.
ReplyDeleteThose cute images make me wish it was raining here! We had a very wet Spring, and now someone has turned off the big faucet in the sky!
ReplyDeleteHappy Pink Saturday!
Carol
Rain always makes me sleepy, which is great at night but not so great during a rainy day, when I struggle to stay awake!
ReplyDeleteI love those cute old pictures! Stopping by from Over 40 Bloggers!
I LOVE YOUR IMAGES! WELCOME TO PINK SATURDAY! MARCIA
ReplyDeleteGood Morning Anne-Marie Sweetie...
ReplyDeleteI popped over from the Pink Saturday link and what a beautiful surprise here. Your blog home is so gorgeous. I love it.
Could you please send some of that rain out here to Phoenix? We are so HOT and could sure use a bucket or two. I love your photo shares today. The two in the basket with the umbrella so made me smile. That is just precious. Ofcourse who doesn't love the Campbell's kids. They have always delighted me. (I always wanted a Campbells kid soup bowl, never did get one for my soups.) I also LOVED the one of the little girl conversing with the duck. Precious.
Have a beautiful Saturday sweet friend. I am Country Wings in Phoenix, your newest follower. I would love to have you pop over for a visit. I would be so honored if you signed up to follow my blog as well.
Country hugs sweetie...Sherry
Love your rain pictures. I love to hear a steady rain at night..it lulls me to sleep and in the morning if it is raining I know I can linger in bed longer.
ReplyDeleteHope you will stop by and say hello.
I ADORE the rain! And I'd rally like some right now to break this heat! ;}
ReplyDeletem ^..^
Oh, how desperately we need rain. Some rain would make me very happy.
ReplyDeleteI just stopped by to welcome you to your first Pink Saturday, and to see your pink post.
Welcome and Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteAh! yes...being warm and cozy in bed when it's raining outside...is perfect. And in my hubby's parent's home in Hawaii...hearing the steady rhythm of rain fall on the metal roof was great too.
ReplyDeleteBlessings & Aloha!
Oh, yes, sleeping during a good rain is a wonderful feeling, especially if I'm out on our sun porch.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute link to Alphabe-Thursday's letter "Z".
ReplyDeleteI loved your first sentence ... not raining men or opportunities. Very clever.
Thank you for participating in this little meme.
Our stops here are always so wonderful. And anything that reminds me of the possibility of rain while living in the Arizona desert is a perfect post to me.
