Why do women torture themselves?

Of course its the holidays for most of us!  Its time to splurge in food, drink and whatever pleases us.  I was reading a book by Loretta LaRoche about how food has become a poison.  What you say?  We hardly enjoy our food anymore.  How many times have I tasted something and thought:  I dont know if I should have eaten that? Then we ask 2 or 3 people:  Should I have eaten this?  I bet I am going to get fat from this.  Everything I eat makes me fat.  Oh God, I'm not going to fit in my favorite jeans.

On top of it anytime you eat something, someone reports to you what's in it.  I'm guilty of this.  There's always some fat gram police around, whether its on the box or can label or your girlfriend who's got it all memorized especially if you go to Weight Watchers:  watch out there's 10 points in that bite.  Spit it out now and repent....Then you think, have I reached my quota for the day?  Assisting my dad when he was living in a residence made a big impact on me.  There they were:  all the old healthy people locked away waiting to die.  These were the elderly that played it safe all their lives:  no smoking, no drinking, eating low fat and healthy but now they are all wearing diapers with Alzheimer.  Do I want this?  Hell no! Do I want to eat low fat, so I'l live a long time, as miserably as possible.  What do you think?  I just want to enjoy my food, tabarnak!

  1. enjoy it, any way u want. Like anything in life, if it's not good for you, your body will reject it. Only if you force yourself to accept it, then it is bad. Think about it....

  2. According to someone, somewhere, there will be something bad about anything you want to eat. Too many calories, too much fat, "bad" cholesterol, etc etc etc, that, if you listen to them all, you will eventually start questioning everything you want to eat, even the good stuff because there's too much potassium in bananas, vitamin C in oranges, etc etc etc...

There comes a time in one's life when you need to say "ah, f... it" and take a bite out of the apple/burger/free range egg/organic lettuce/whatever, and be done with it, enjoy it, and do an extra 10mins on the bicycle at gym to releive yourself of the guilt.

  3. Wreckless: Thanks for dropping by! So I guess I should not force myself to diet and exercise because then it becomes bad. I'm right with you on that one LOL

DMD: A lot of my friends (including myself) do "emotional eating". Us women are 2 emotional and we deal with it by eating comfort food. Why? Because we are always cooking for someone or grocery shopping. Our lives revolve around food. I need more than 10 minutes on the bike maybe swimming followed by sharks for 2 hours a day! BTW do you know how to activate the "Cluster Map"? It took me so long to post it but its dormant. Perhaps it needs 24 hours before it becomes activated!

  5. A cluster map is like a cluster bomb. useless to anyone but the person who drops it. Or not? Dunno, but I do know that the more stuff we put on our blogs, the longer they take to download, open up, etc.

  6. Wreckless: I got the idea from your blog. You have a lot more action on your map than mine! I need to use a magnifying glass to see the red dots! Bonne année Monsieur Euro! :)

DVD: I knew of the sharks in Durban. They even had a Shark Board then. I dont know if it still exists. I'd rather swim for my life there. At least the H2O is warmer....
