It's White Wednesday!
If I could I would decorate every room in white. Its so peaceful and calming! But I do have children and reality dictates that this would not be fair to them. But I can decorate certain areas that are more or less reserved to adults. I have a big family room and one of the walls was crying for attention. I decided something had to be done. I found these 2 suitcases that were just waiting to be tossed out but then I saw something that caught my eye in a fancy decor magazine. I figured I could do something similar. I painted the 2 suitcases white and decided to add a third one. I went to Winners which is the Canadian equivalent of T.J. Maxx and bought a carboard storage box that looked like it would make a good match. I liked the shape. Once it was painted, I looked even better. I stacked them up and voilà! Top it off with anything you like! Its creative, its recycling old suitcases, its simple and its cheap! Hope you enjoyed it! I'm off to visit your blog and discover new ideas and friends.

ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I saw it before some place else and thought I have to so do that! I have a collection of old suit cases/trunks and plan to paint them white when it gets a little warmer here. I love how your's turned out... thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteLovely idea! Interesting decoration...
ReplyDeleteAnne-Marie i was so happy to get your comment. I love it when I find an awesome blog like yours. I wouldn't have had you not stopped because sadly I don't have time to blog hop much anymore now that it is gardening time. You asked about the type of paint you should use on your table. On this piece, I primed with Zinser 123 and then used Behr enamel in Cottage White. They also have a new paint with primer in it, but I don't know how it stands up to regular washing and children. I don't put polyurethane on my pieces. I use the hand rubbed Minwax paste. It dries to a hard finish and I love the soft look.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, and most especially this post of the suitcases stacked together. LOVE IT!!!
hugs
Nice suitcases!

I understand about the 20 being the new 10, my 20 year old just broke our neighbors window today, she blamed it on not having any brothers, and wanted us to not feel left out!!
Wow, the gratitude part of your blog struck me... I love it and thank you for reminding me to be thankful. I also adore vintage suitcases and yours are darling! Tooo cute! I love to paint them and then cut out pictures of roses and decoupage them on there Please stop by and say hi,
